Cambridge City Council Motion October 2020

The resignation of Kevin Price in October 2020 alerted women to the fact that Cambridge City Councillors had passed a motion that essentially redefined the legally recognised term ‘woman’ from ‘female of any age’, to a legally undefined, interchangeable term where ‘woman’ is something based on gender identity or gender expression and includes some men while excluding some women.

Cambridge City Council stated the motion will have no impact on policies.

CambsWomen Together are dubious about this assertion; therefore, it is our aim to challenge the City Council to ensure the legal definition of woman is upheld and women’s single-sex protections, as set out in the Equality Act 2010, are maintained.
